News & Announcements

Updated Information!! Virtual Instruction announced for Wednesday and Thursday February 17, 2021 and February 18,2021..

Due continued inclement weather and dangerous road conditions, GCISD will
continue hold classes VIRTUALLY. Please know that our students, families, and staffs safety and well-being are our primary concern during this time. Holding Virtual classes provides us a venue to continue to regularly communicate with our families, and to help provide assistance with food and such.
Tomorrow (Wednesday, February 17, 2021) GCISD will be delivering 6 days of Breakfast and lunch packs to those who responded yes to the message sent out via REMIND/DOJO earlier this afternoon from the instructional staff. The delivery will begin between 9 and 10 AM. We are unable to establish a specific/ set time due to the inability to predict road conditions and time it will take to safely travel. Please know that NO student will be penalized or counted absent due to power outages. All campuses have been instructed to send out information for alternative attendance methods, and instructional assistance to all students experiencing power outages and water difficulties. Please continue to consult this page for updates.

District Scheduling and information during Winter Storm Advisory Period Posted February 11, 2021

GCISD wants everyone to stay safe and warm during the next few days.
The following information is posted in an attempt to help our students, staff, and families have a better idea of our school schedule during this patch of inclement winter weather.
Friday, February 12, 2021: The district will be 100% virtual for students and all staff will work from home. All afterschool activities are canceled. The district central office will be open to conduct required school board election activities only, in compliance with the Texas Election Code.
Saturday and Sunday: All extra-curricular activities are canceled.
Monday, February 15, 2021: The district will continue to carefully monitor the weather conditions and predicted forecasts.
Presently, we are scheduled for a normal school day on Monday, but may need to make this a 100% virtual day if the predicted weather forecast and road conditions look to hold true, and warrant us to do so for the safety of ALL students and staff who come from Orient, Quail Valley, Buffalo Heights, Grape Creek Proper, Indian Creek, San Angelo, and everything in between. We will work hard toward making an informed decision and hope to make the call and be ready to contact all parents by Friday or Saturday night with a decision in order to provide as much time as possible for making plans. The safety and concern of all students and staff is our top priority. We apologize in advance for any inconveniences or hardships caused by the virtual days.
